New Business Resolutions - 2

My second idea to develop my search engine ranking business in the next year is to limit time spent sitting at the laptop. I will move away from the desk at least once an hour, to avoid neck strain. It is too easy to spend much longer sitting in one position unless there is a reason to move. Unless the dog can be relied on (he can't) I will need to set an alarm.

New Business Resolutions - 1

What will I do differently from now on to make a difference to my business?
1. Monitor where I spend my time
In many corporate workplaces time spent on different projects is logged so that it can be charged out to clients. Sole entrepreneurs need to do the same: I am going to do this for one week, and compare time spent against income generated, to channel my efforts to the areas that are performing financially.

Postie Patrol - Paid to Post

The recent PPP Postie Patrol in Chicago looks like a great way for grown ups to play scavenger games. The day began with a load of HP equipment, and a target of objects and images to gather. Despite the cold the happy hunters ran around in the bitter cold gathering their prizes, and having a real laugh along the way. Have a look and you will see what I mean - they met loads of people and made some odd requests of some of them, and of course they picked up plenty of Digital Photography Tips along the way. There is also a very nice cash prize, so as it was so cold that day I guess this is the most fun you can have with your clothes on. I really enjoyed hearing from the contestant that she had one of the best days for a very long time. Pay Per Post offers massive opportunities for fun while you get paid.

SEO - do not get banned (part 6)

Be creative with your keyword searches. Brainstorm the terms that are used in your niche and use every possible variation in your web copy. This was you will pick up low hanging fruit rather than chasing the plums at the top of the tree alongside every other internet marketer. Sure there are fewer searches but would you rather have five visits a day for each of ten less popular terms, or hang about waiting for ten visits from your jackpot term?

Blog Review

I read a post by a business advice blogger today who had been on the receiving end of some critical self-appointed monitors over at digg, where there are a few folk who reel at the sight of any 'commercial' material. The author of the blog has made some other good points including, 'join anything online that you are invited to'. SEO - do not get banned (part 3)

You may have seen sites or blogs where the meta tags are stuffed with keywords or the content consists primarily of repeated keywords, rendering the page unreadable. This technique may achieve higher page ranking in the short term, but it will soon be picked up by the search engines and this will result in a penalty for your site.

Wiki Search Engine Challenge to Google

Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales is planning to launch a new search engine next year, to be called Wikiasari. He’s clearly aiming for Google. He says:
“Google is very good at many types of search, but in many instances it produces nothing but spam and useless crap. Try searching for the term ‘Tampa hotels’, for example, and you will not get any useful results…Essentially, if you consider one of the basic tasks of a search engine, it is to make a decision: ‘this page is good, this page sucks.’ Computers are notoriously bad at making such judgments, so algorithmic search has to go about it in a roundabout way…But we have a really great method for doing that ourselves. We just look at the page. It usually only takes a second to figure out if the page is good, so the key here is building a community of trust that can do that.”

The new company will be the third business division of Wikia, the for profit company that Wales founded in 2005 and is now led by CEO Gil Penchina. The other two business units are the main Wikia wiki site itself, and the recently launched OpenServing product.

Wikia has raised over $4 million in capital, including a recent round by Amazon. Despite the fact that the original article reported that Amazon is involved in the project, Wikia is making it clear on the site that they are not involved in any way (other than as a shareholder of Wikia).

Software Tracks Keystrokes

For peace of mind and reassurance on the security of your computer, you can now obtain keystroke logging software, with the ability to record email, chat and instant messages, web site visits and URLs, keystrokes typed, P2P activity, programs launched, online search details, activity at myspace and similar sites, and visual snapshot recording. You can also obtained full details of the most frequent tasks carried out on the computer. The software only gives a retrospective overview but also examines and analyzes tracked activity to decide if you need to be notified immediately of irregular activity. It is available in different specifications for home office or office network use, and is a key element for parents who are concerned to protect their children and young people in their online activities. Even if you do not have day to day physical access to the computer, eBlaster software will provide you with full remote tracking data software so you can check from afar that no untoward activity is occurring on the computer in question. Parents who installed this software have reported that the software has helped keep their children on the right track. Many have found that they were visiting sites they should not have been going to, and this opens up discussion of online safety and protection. Once they know that the keystroke logger tracking software is in place, the young people start to use the web carefully and advise their friends to do likewise.

SEO - do not get banned (part 2)

Here are some more methods that could get your site banned from the search engines:
Keyword stuffing - the practice of inserting bunches of keywords into tags or putting repetitive keywords in web copy, rendering it unreadable to the human eye. It could achieve higher SERPs initially, but it will flag up on the search engine algorithms.
Ready made Web Templates: sometimes called “Adsense ready” or “Adsense compatible.” Manay of them simply contain duplicate content, a big no-no to the serch engines. You can check here for a legitimate Adsense website template

Digital Camera and Printer by HP for Me!

I am getting more interested in all that is available at PayPerPost since I heard about some of the prizes that are up for grabs. Now there is a HP 6 megapixel digital camera and photo printer on offer and I WANT THEM! That may sound a bit pushy but we Brits have to work at it, you know. The reason I actually need them is to start spicing up my blogs, and the only camera I have available as a rule is a really basic mobile phone job. Certainly not up to the job if I am going to be Pay Per Post's next top roving reporter. I have also not printed a photo off for over a year and we have some fantastic new shots since our friend came over recently and fired off over 200 fab shots on his new camera - you guessed it, an HP six megapixel. Now I do not often get excited about electronics but that piece of kit was awesome, and it made me a bit jealous, you know? We were all talking about the extent to which digital photography has changed the way we use images. When the shots were limited by the amount of film, very few of us could afford to take as many as we wanted. I have also seen professional photographers caught out with stale film, or no film at all, so I think digital photography is the best thing since sliced bread. If I win I am going to carry the camera every morning when I take my dog to the park, and get some shots of the changing scenes that we witness. Fingers crossed, here goes!!

SEO - do not get banned (part 1)

If you are using search engine optimisation you will probably have heard the terms 'white hat'- within the rules - and 'black hat' - frowned by the search engines.

All the major search engines can and do penalize sites if they find black hat methods being used. The penalty can be a drop in page rank or removing the site from the search engine's listing, often known as banning. If you are banned, clearly you will receive no organic search engine traffic. Pay Per Click will be your only option to get visitors to your site.

It is easy to fall into the trap of using some of the black hat methods if you are not fully versed in what is acceptable and what is not.

1. Doorway pages these are pages designed to attract the search engines but they contain very little material for the human reader. Doorway pages were one of BMW's mistakes when the car giant was banned from Google. One of its pages appeared at first to contain a sparse amount of javascript, but when javascript was disabled the page content was revealed. It was simply stuffed with the desired keywords, making no sense at all for the audience.

That is exactly what we have just done. We remortgaged the house to free up cash for investment into the business, and the deal we got was very advantageous.

Business Website

There are, of course, hundreds of thousands of websites on the topic of Business, Webmaster resources and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Some are more interesting than others: John Chow lives in the US and has a site in a Blog format with some interesting stuff on business topics, spliced in with a bit of wit and personality - unusual on the web, where many take themselves a tad too seriously. Recent informative articles on the site include 'Google Duplicate Content Policy', 'Keyword Tracking', and 'Adsense Image & Ad placement policy'. This last topic has caused consternation recently among bloggers and webmasters alike, all worried that they could breach Google's TOS. I have seen several conflicting views on many forums, but on this site he has reprinted Google's guidance straight from the horse's mouth together with clear illustrations of the types of ads that they will not allow.

I mentioned that the site has a bit of personality, starting with the aspirational fast car image in the header, proving that he shares that passion with most other males. The posts are tagged according to an eclectic range of topics including cars (of course), investing, technology, the net, videos - and Fine Dining! John Chow dot Com is a good read and you will probably stay there for a while.

Keywords for Blogs vs websites

If you want to find keywords and phrases for your main web pages you will want to research the best keywords for your chosen niche. When you start a new blog you will follow a similar process, but once you start posting to your blog you are unlikely to have time to keyword research for every post you make.

While you should try to stay on topic as much as possible, you can write more naturally without excessive attention to optimized copy. There are benefits to this:

1. You will start to rank highly in the search engines for some long-tail keywords that others have missed.

2. Your content will read better and sound more natural, leading to more inbound links and higher traffic.

You can download a free step-by-step guide to Search Engine Optimization here.

Link Baiting defined

I have mentioned link baiting before - to end any confusion, here is the accepted Wikipedia definition:

Link bait is any content or feature within a website that somehow baits viewers to place links to it from other websites. Attempts to create link bait are frequently employed in the overall task of search engine optimization.

'You may have heard the term link bait discussed in search engine optimization circles. In SEO speak, link bait is content that attracts natural incoming links from other blogs and websites.

Link bait is content that people want to link to, and share with their own readers.

It all starts with your blog content. If you are serious about getting more links to your blog to gain more visitor traffic, and higher search engine rankings, it takes great posts. There is no other alternative as powerful for receiving inbound links than interesting and informative original content. Simply put, if no one finds your posts of value, no one is going to link to them. Of course, that's not you.

The question then becomes one of developing and writing great posts to attract those one way incoming links. The best course of action on your part is to stick to your main blogging niche.

If your blog theme is crochet, then write about crochet topics for the vast majority of your postings. As a result, other craft blogs and sites in general, and crochet themed blogs and sites in particular, will link to many of your posts. Write material that no other bloggers provide, and your blog becomes an important information source.

Sidebar: I mention crochet blogs in the example because they are my Mom's favourite craft blog. She is a life long crochet practitioner. The house is filled with her handmade crochet items.

Another powerful link bait tool is to offer something for free to your readership. A website tool, an ebook, pdf whitepaper, or a contest with prizes are all well known link attractors. Bloggers are generous and heavy linkers.

As a result, your free items are very likely to receive, at the very least, a few inbound links. More likely, the amount of new links added will be quite high. For both traffic building, and for blog SEO, the added links are extremely poweful.

Targeting your blog to the desired reading audience is the best course of action if you want to develop link bait. Along with the links to individual posts, your blog stands a very good chance of also being added to the blogger's blogroll, providing a permanent link to your blog.

For SEO rankings, long term links from theme related are especially good value, as the search engines consider web pages receiving permanent links to be important sites for that theme. Staying power has its advantages.

If you are serious about receiving some linky love in the form of incoming links, it's essential that you create great posts. This is especially important if you are a new blogger who lacks a long term network of blogging friends and associates.

The way to establish your reputation, as a good blogger within your blogging niche, is through your writing. Natural one way links to your blog won't happen any other way.

Great posts are link bait for other bloggers to find and follow.

Write a great post today, offering information of items of value to your readers, and some linky love is sure to follow.'

How to float your ads around posts

Here is a very good idea for placing Adsense ads among your posts - this will achieve a more natural look for ad blocks such as 250 x 250 or 336 x 280. It looks very simple to do: if you have any problems please leave a comment here, or at blogging secrets

'After doing a guide for Ultimate Adsense Guide-Put Adsense in Between The Post(Beta), now i come back again with part 2. After my experiment,I have come to the conclusion that wrapping around your blog post to the Adsense advertisement generates a higher click thru rate. The use of wider ads like 336 x 280 works best. Blending ads to your background color and removing the borders gives higher click thru rate.

Many readers are asking me, how were you able to wrap around your blog post to the Google Adsense? Simple, just follow the following steps.

First, don't need bother about the amount of post to display, since it auto adjusted.

Now go to Settings > Formatting and set Enable Float Alignment to No.
Then, insert the following code on your template just after the

'di v class =
'post-header-line-1'/

di v style = float: left;"

YOUR ADSENSE CODE HERE AFTER MODIFY
(tutorial for modify click here)

(You may change left to any position you like, that's it.)
Then, save your blog. If you followed all my instructions, you'll be able to see your Google Adsense on any page on your blog, just like the one I have right now here at the time of this writing.

Now there is a wristwatch type monitor that gives accurate readings, showing the highest and lowest readings, with a memory for up to 20 previous readings. Of course it shows the time of day and has a countdown timer as well. To check the current heart rate reading all you need to do is place your fingers on the watch face for a few seconds. Christmas Gifts - Luxury Ties and, Scarves

Here is an idea for Christmas gifts - Peter Belisi is a man with a passion for ties and accessories. He designs and markets the most stylish and beautful ties, scarves and bags, and also knows his product. Did you realise that neckties date back to Croatian soldiers who came to Paris in 1635 to help King Louis XIII. They were wearing silk scarves tied around their necks in a distinctive fashion. The French, always with a focus to fashion, loved the style and adapted it as their own.
For the scarves this season he has used a thicker, more luxurious 18mm silk to create more texture and softness. Also included is an elegant hand rolled border. Luxury is in the details. We hope you agree these scarves from Belisi.com bring the touch of style we all crave this season.

Seeking an overseas partner

If you are surfing for information regarding russian brides, most of your search results will produce dating, matchmaking and introduction agencies. you probably ask yourself if they are honest. You need to understand that there is a big story behind the term 'russian brides'. Who are these women seeking marriage abroad, what they are like and why are they available? Two things are most important. The majority are quite clear in seeking a potential partner, and almost all of them say: "I want my husband to love and understand me." Another important requirement you will see is for their future partner to be financially secure. This means a stable job and ability to provide for a family. This does not mean you need to be rich. Your wealth or handsome appearance may possibly even have a negative effect. In some cases women do not try to pursue an acquaintance to a rich, good-looking guy because they do not consider themselves good enough. If a man seems too good to be true to her, this makes her feel insecure.

Keywords and Advertising

When thinking of keywords, think like your target customers. What do you think are they going to search so they can get to your site? Also, use specific keywords or key phrases. Submitting a single word or a very general phrase to a search engine will not get you to the top of the search results compared to submitting specific keywords that describe your product and services perfectly.

Track your ads. Always check how much you have spent on placing links on frequently visited sites and on PPC. There are services that allow you to monitor PPC transactions and how many of these end in sales. You always need to consider if the ads that you have placed on these websites are getting you to your target consumers and if these ads can lead to revenue.

And even the producer of the original product may not know of this. In good faith, he/she could have outsourced the code on elance only to get purchase code that was stolen by the programmer, or that the programmer used without rights.

Start Podcasting Make Money

Discover How You Can Start Making Profits From The Podcasting Boom. Easy and Fast to Set Up for Any Website

Podcasting is a way of distributing multimedia files, for example music video or audio broadcasts, using RSS or Atom syndication across the Internet. These can then be played at any time on a computer or mobile device. The term podcast, like radio, can mean both the content and the method of delivery. Podcasting has become a massively popular way of listening to downloaded tracks on the move, and it is rare to see anyone under the age of 40 walking without an earpiece playing favourite music on an MP3 to pass the time.

The opportunity for webmasters is to offer direct download or streaming of their files; a podcast is distinguished by its ability to be downloaded automatically using software that reads RSS or Atom feeds.

Usually a podcast features one type of show, with new episodes released either sporadically or at planned intervals. Here in the UK it became clear that Podcasting had reached critical mass when BBC Radio started offering podcasts of its most popular programmes. Website owners need to learn about the potential of this new medium, or risk being left behind.
Internet entrepreneurs who are on the look out for the next opportunity have found their target in this new trend. Podcasting opens up opportunities for any webmaster or blogger to make these look easy:

* Create information products without writing one word

* Make regular podcasts to a membership group or optin list

* Store podcasts on the web for visitors to hear at any time

Podcasting is like making a radio broadcast to the world, and it is about to become a key element in website content. The good news is that podcasting is not surrounded by complex technology or rules and regulations. There is no licence required, unlike radio broadcasting. Podcasting requires no expensive equipment – a simple microphone is enough. Even a home based business can start podcasting, recording their contributions and uploading an MP3 file to the server in the same way as any other web content. Finally, the software can be obtained for free.

We have a tell-all guide to podcasting, showing how to profit from podcasts. "Podcasting Made Easy" is ready for you right now (by instant download).
