Silver Dollar

I am constantly looking out for investment opportunities with a better rate of return: have you thought about investing a portion into morgan silver dollar holdings? They are an interesting purchase, even as a gift. Instead of buying a useless trinket for a Christmas gift, why not give a lasting gift with the potential to increase in value. I guarantee that your loved ones will be impressed to receive a beautiful gift of precious metal with a sense of history. People are fascinated by precious metals and their history: gold and silver have been traded as currency and investment for thousands of years and can be purchased in the form of ingots or silver coins. As an investment, silver dollars can easily be converted into hard currency as required, and they are a beautiful appreciating asset.

Swine flu situation

The Swine Flu outbreak is showing no signs of dissipating, as deaths have been reported in the last few days - in the middle of summer. The risk is best dealt with by sensible steps, as most of us will only feel moderately under the weather. But it is important to try and prevent the spread of the virus.

The influenza virus can be passed from person to person when ever anyone coughs or sneezes into the air. By using a tissue, we can prevent the passage of the germs. It really is that simple. The good news is that ther are effective treatments available. like PrimaMed. Producers have been working flat out to meet the demand as governments stock up for the winter.

home ideas

In the past two years life has been hard to calculate for anyone investing in property in England or Scotland. Whereas five years ago, there would have been hundreds of investors looking to buy fitted bathrooms in fife, there is now just a trickle - pardon the pun! It is still worth adding on to a house in the right location - a loft example will still add value, even though you must include the cost of installing a saniflo
ayatem in the ensuite bathroom.

When it comes to bathrooms glasgow there is no debate as to whether you should improve. Prices there have stayed strong and there seems to be an endless supply of people wanting to move to the city.

parcels

If your business is diverse, as mine is, then you have probably been selling a few little items on the online auction sites to make extra cash. This is great when the buyers are living close to your home but when they come from further afield then you need to get a good international couriers service. I prefer to find my buyers from the UK, but occasionally the winning bidder comes from Europe. The costs of parcel delivery to europe is about thirty per cent higher than to domestic addresses, and it is very important to get tracking information in case the consignment goes astray.

For us, the issues regarding parcel delivery to usa are much more involved. You have to get customs documentation and ensure that your buyer does not get stung for extra taxes. In cases like these, make sure you use a professional courier company otherwise you could spend hours sorting things out.

SEO

As a website owner you realise that search engine algorithms are constantly evolving, and today's top search engine optimization techniques may not work for the
search engines next month. All the search engines operate towards the same goal: to provide quality results that are most relevant to a user's search term. If you were to optimize with only the generally proven SEO Company practices, you would rank well in all search engines and continue to do so even through various algorithm updates.

This is not a job for beginners - make sure you find an experienced SEO specialist, even better if they will also get involved in your Web design since this also influences your search engine experience.

Beach reviews

I am a big fan of holidays in the UK, and Wales offers the chance to enjoy rural seclusion. The hills of Southern Snowdonia are a great base for a Short Break Wales, with panoramic views over the surrounding pastures to the coast - just a short drive away. You will find some of the best beaches in Europe dotted around the Welsh coast, especially in Tenby, in the north. Some might say that beaches in Wales are very windy - well Tenby has three beaches: North beach, South beach and Town beach, so you can always find one that's sheltered from the wind. North and South beaches have long stretches of soft sand, Town beach is smaller and is overlooked by the castle.

Faster,Better Way to Research Stocks

Business Valuation Expert Invents Faster,Better Way to Research Stocks

Ian Campbell is a Canadian recognized as one of that country's most influencial business valuations experts. He manages his own equities portfolio. Now I don't know about you, but that would scare the heck out of me; but he seems to quite enjoy doing it.

Campbell told me that it wasn't that easy in the past. He got tired of wading through financial web sites, newsletters, and other data for what seemed like endless hours each week. He has been in the financial industry for more than three decades, so he knew from experience the best way was to solve this problem was to tackle it himself.

Speaking of unending hours, how many did you spend last month? Were you like me, wading through the data quagmire -- that unending labyrinth of data related to the stocks you're following? Personally, it irritates me to no end.

Perhaps you're one of those who like to manage your own portfolio. Maybe you're interested in the Canadian Small Cap Mining and Oil & Gas Industries; or you're a financial adviser with clients interested in these sectors. If so, you've likely experienced 'the problem' - the huge waste of your valuable time -- pouring over charts, tables, financial documents and websites, when accessing economic, industry and company data on the web.

Campbell commissioned proprietary survey research in both the U.S. and Canada. Among other things, it asked how much time respondents spent researching stocks on the Internet. Ian's consumer research indicated that 80 percent of those retail stock investors surveyed in the U.S.A. and Canada spent up to 10 hours per month, researching stocks, bonds and other financial affairs on the Internet. One would think that it is a reasonable assumption that 80 percent of all individual retail investors do not spend time managing their own portfolios. These people assist, or perhaps they collaborate; but mostly they rely on the expertise of an investment adviser for assistance. This begs the quesion as to why these folks are on the Internet doing their own research, investigating stocks? The answer perhaps lies in the fact that the research also asked these same respondents a few questions about how they felt regarding their own investment advisers.

The answers were illuminating to be sure! Let's just say these 80% are not taking any chances. They want to know exactly what is happening with their portfolio and how to ensure that their own Investment Advisor focuses on their financial affairs. Campbell was sure he was on to something. He was confident that thousands of other investors must feel like him: frustrated with the way online investment research was done; and what he had to work with. He decided to conduct even more research to see if the market needed and would be willing to pay for a unique membership web site that would take the data - the material that drives most of us bananas - and properly organize it in a way that he and those other investors had never seen before.

Campbell continued and made other relevant data more easily available. Now those who wanted to manage their own portfolio, or just keep an eye on it; or who have an IA working with them, could be more organized; work faster. The IA's would also put this new 'tool' to good use. The results were more reliable too.

Campbell had been an influencial valuation expert for more than three decades. He knew that if he could solve these problems, putting all this in one website, he just might have the answer. The result was a very special web site, which launched recently.

This is how most great ideas come about. In this case, one very frustrated individual investor, decided he had had enough of the time-wasting, so he set out to do something about it. Now everyone can access this faster, better way of researching stocks.

Calling All Recruiters—Is Anyone Out There?

Online job services were meant to automate the job search process, getting jobseekers in front of prospective new employers faster. How well is it working for you? If you've sent out dozens of resumes and gotten little or no response, it probably feels like you're sending your resume into a vast black hole. Do you feel like shouting "Hey, is anyone out there?"

To better the odds that your resume is being seen by a real person who can offer you a real job, here are three guidelines to make your resume more effective.

1. Include Key Words

With paper resumes a thing of the past, employers use candidate tracking databases to store resumes. Recruiters and hiring managers use key words to query and find the candidate resumes that match the job. If you aren't using the right words to describe your employment experiences, then your resume might be rejected before it's ever seen. Review the key words your resume uses to:

* Describe your current career objective. Do your qualifications match the job description? Look closely at areas listing your technical skills, job responsibilities, and core competencies.

* Attract your industry. Are you using your industry's current buzzwords? Avoid obsolete terms and phases that may label you as behind the times.

* Attract your occupational field. Does your resume give the impression that you're cutting edge or over the hill? Make sure your resume shows why you're a good choice for the job.

2. Use the Correct Electronic Version

If your resume can't be opened as an attachment, then it can't be seen. Because of the threat of computer viruses, many companies only accept resumes through their own online forms which ask you to cut and paste (rather than attach) your resume. Make sure you are sending your resume in a format that will work for the recipient.

* If a resume attachment is requested: Save your resume as a Word document (.doc or .rtf). This is the standard that most companies use. It should retain the formatting that you used for your resume. Avoid fancy formatting options such as columns, boxes, and tables.

* If an email or online form is used: Use ASCII, plain text, or text only (.txt). This removes formatting, but the information is preserved. Be sure to review your resume before sending it so that it is still easy to read and user friendly. 3. Make Your Resume Stand Out from the Crowd

With hundreds of candidates to choose from, what makes your resume shout "Pick me!"? If your qualifications are similar or equal to the vast majority of other candidates, employers will need a compelling reason to select you out of the crowd. You need a differentiating edge, or you'll be ignored.

The best way to differentiate your resume from others is with accomplishments. And those accomplishments really stand out when:

* They are quantified or measurable. Can you define how much you accomplished in dollars saved, contracts won, or percent changed?

* They highlight your transferable skills. Can your skills be used by this company, even if your job experience is in a different industry? Transferable skills help employers visualize you in their organization.

* They show corporate impact. How can you help them save time, save money, increase their profit margin, improve sales, or increase revenue?

While the Internet is still a great tool to connect quickly with employers, you need to take steps to ensure your resume won't be ignored. Before you apply online again, use these three tips to make sure your resume gets the attention it deserves!

Forex Market Help

History of the Forex Market

Money, in one form or another, has been used by man for centuries. At first it was mainly gold or silver coins. Goods were traded versus other goods or against gold. So, the price of gold got a reference point. But as the trading of goods grew among nations, moving quantities of gold around places to settle payments of trade became cumbersome, risky and time consuming. Therefore, a system was sought by which the payment of trades could be resolved in the seller's local currency. But how much of buyer's local currency should be equal to the seller's local currency?

The answer was simple. The strength of a country's currency depended on the amount of gold reserves the country preserved. So, if country A's gold reserves are double the gold reserves of country B, country A's currency will be twice in value when exchanged with the currency of country B. During the first World War, in order to meet the tremendous financing needs, paper money was created in quantities that far exceeded the gold reserves.

After the cease of World War II the western allied powers tried to resolve the problem at the Bretton Woods Conference in New Hampshire in 1944. In the first three weeks of July 1944, delegates from 45 nations gathered at the United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. The delegates gathered to discuss the postwar recovery of Europe as well as a number of monetary issues, such as unstable exchange rates and protectionist trade policies. In the early 1940s, the United States and Great Britain developed proposals for the creation of new international financial institutions that would stabilize exchange rates and promote international trade.

The delegates at Bretton Woods arrived at an agreement known as the Bretton Woods Agreement to establish a postwar international monetary system of convertible currencies, fixed exchange rates and free trade. To help these objectives, the agreement created two international institutions: the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the World Bank). The aim was to render economic aid for reconstruction of postwar Europe. An initial loan of $250 million to France in 1947 was the World Bank's first act.

Under the Bretton Woods Exchange System, the currencies of active nations could be changed into the US dollar at a fixed rate, and foreign central banks could change the US dollar into gold at a fixed rate. It was similar to forex trading.

The United States, under President Nixon, retaliated in 1971 by devaluing the dollar and pushing realignment of currencies with the dollar. The heading European economies tried to counter the US move by adjusting their currencies in narrow band and then float jointly against the US dollar.

Fortunately, this currency war did not last long and by the first half of the 1970's heading world economies gave up the fixed exchange rate system for good and floated their currencies in the exposed market. The idea was to let the market determine the value of a given currency based on the demand and supply of the currency and the economic wellness of the currency's nation, it sown the forex trading. This market is popularly known as the International Monetary Market or IMM. This IMM is not a single entity. It is the collection of all financial institutions that have any concern in foreign currencies, all over the world. Banks, Brokerages, Fund Managers, Government Central Banks and sometimes individuals, are just a few examples.

Although the currency's value is dependent on the market forces, the central banks still try to keep their currency in a predefined (and highly confidential) fluctuation band as a part of their forex trading strategies. They achieve this by taking several steps.

Secret Of An Internet Home Based Business

The Secret Of An Internet Home Based Business

Making money on the Internet with your own home based business has never been easier. There are a few things that you must do to create income using the Internet. In this article we want to talk about the secret of an Internet home based business you can use to be sure you are making money.

The secret I am talking about is having a never ending supply of visitors coming to a moneymaking website. Granted there are different ways to get traffic to a website, and no certain one is better than the other. There are people who set up a Google Adwords campaign and begin getting traffic the very first day. This can be an excellent way to achieve a never ending supply of traffic as long as you are willing to pay for the advertising that you are doing.

Another way that is proven to be extremely effective is to constantly add fresh content to your website by building new webpages or by adding a blog. Fresh content can be valuable for two reasons.

1. Search engines love it

2. You get repeat visitors coming back to see what is new

Many times, the difference between a successful Internet home based business, and one that never seems to get off the ground is traffic. If you subscribe to the notion that Internet marketing is a numbers game, then you know that the more numbers you have working in your favor, the better chance you have to succeed.

As you begin to develop profitability in your internet home based business hopefully you will combine these two allowing you to create an even larger supply of traffic. By doing a pay per click advertising campaign, and adding fresh content you stand an excellent chance to get visitors coming to your site from many different angles.

Once you've mastered this strategy with one website you can then repeat the process and start a second website. The beauty of running multiple websites is you do not have all of your income tied up in one. This is really hedging your bets, because with multiple streams of income you are not susceptible to the curves the Internet can throw at you.

In conclusion, the secret of an Internet home-based business is really not that difficult to master. The reason most people fail is because they just never get enough traffic to their websites in the first place. To make sure this does not happen to you spend the majority of your time marketing and promoting your business.

Writer's Block Help

7 Easy Ways to Ease Ezine Writer's Block?

If you publish an ezine regularly, inevitably there are times when you get stuck and can't quite come up with the perfect article for your issue. Sometimes just taking a break and coming back later will give you a fresh start. But other times you need more of a "writing prompt" to get you going.

The following 7 ways should help you get unstuck and get writing:

1. Write a Tip Sheet

Sometimes it's easier to get started by creating a list of tips: How to _______; The 5 Ways to ____________; Top Ten Tips to _______________; Write a couple of sentences for each tip, and before you know it, you have a completed article full of practical information for your readers.

2. Answer Your Most Frequently Asked Questions

As your clients interact with you, you'll likely get the same kinds of questions over and over. Take one or two of your most frequently asked questions and answer it in an article.

3. Use a Client's Scenario

Protecting your client's privacy (or not, if they give you permission), use their scenario as a case study. Explain the client's situation and what recommendations you gave, as well as what the results were. This will help build your credibility in your prospect's eyes as well, as this gives them the chance to see you "at work."

4. Comb Through Your Reading Box

Do you have a Reading Box (or tray, file, pile)? If you're like me, I get a ton of info via email everyday that I really do want to read, so I have a box where I toss all the stuff I print into (actually, it's now two boxes!). Go through your own pile, and see what ideas pop up for you from there. (I do this often when I'm trying to switch from mommy-mode to businesswoman-mode.)

5. Learn Something New and Pass It Along

Did you learn something new recently that you can share with others? Or is there something you want to learn more about? Go and do some preliminary research and share your findings with your readers.

6. Interview an Expert

I love this one, but don't overdo it. Your readers want to hear from you, which is why they are reading YOUR ezine. But once in awhile, having an interview as an article, as long as it provides valuable content for your readers, can be a nice change and even fun.

Send your expert 3-5 questions to answer, and turn the interview into an article by adding an introductory and concluding paragragh. (I enjoy giving these kinds of interviews myself, so if you'd like to interview me for your ezine, shoot me an email at alicia@clientabundance.com and let me know.)

7. Get Back to Basics

Think back to when you were just starting out in your business. What were the things you found most challenging? Choose one or two and offer your advice on how to get beyond those stumbling blocks.

Any of these ideas should get you started, and then the words will start to flow. I know when I'm writing sometimes, I'm thinking "ugh - not in the writing groove today at all" but once I get going, I'm usually pretty happy with the end result (but I do LOVE to revise, and revise, and revise... :)).

Cornwall holidays

Over the past couple of years I have gained a new love of the attractions of Cornwall. As a dog owner I chose to take holidays in the UK, and this was a great chance to explore the natural beauty of the West Country. If you want to find wild areas in Great Britain, you will find plenty of them in this beautiful county. Having found a dog friendly Cornwall Holiday Cottage. I wanted to visit the place that I think has led to an upturn in the area's fortunes, and that is the Eden Project. This is a must for anyone interested in plants and flowers. And of course there is Land's End - the furthest point west in the British Isles. The county has loads to offer to holiday makers of all ages.

Social Media Marketing

Social Media Marketing- 11 of the Most Critical Words to use in Social Media in 2009

Conversation.

Yep- that is what the core focus is in Social Media.

Ok- let's get REAL. If Social Media marketing is about conversation, then should there not be words that fit in to what the culture of social media is all about? Should not you paint a picture with your words? Should your words not elicit feelings and emotions?

Of course they should.

Words are a marketer's tool box. Here are 11 you need

1) "YOU."

There is nothing more powerful to a person reading a message or conversation that has the word YOU in it, over and over. Many people have an "I" mentality, and in social media, you are not the deal. The other person or side of the conversation is.

There are 2 forms of conversation in social media::

a) "Contribution" and b) "Distribution."

" Contribution conversations" contribute to the whole, and add Value to the conversation. "Distribution conversation" distributes the message/agenda you want- and has little inclusion of someone else. Contribution words use YOU many times. Distribution words use "I" or 'Me" many times. Use the word YOU and become a Contribution Agent in social media, not a distribution rookie.

2) "A Person's Name."

Duh. There is nothing more beautiful to a person than their name. This is a given. I am surprised how many tweets, notes, and messages i get and also read that do not say the person's name. Use their name at least once in every communication and message as it adds to the conversation.

And also, a person will retain almost 70% more of what a message says, if their name is within the first 3 words. Chris Brogan is a master at this. I have seen and studied him, and every time he tweets or sends a message- ususally the name is the first word.

Smart. VERY smart. we all should follow that lead.

3) "Connection."

This word is an indication that you want to connect and start a relationship of some kind and create an ongoing conversation. Many folks use the phrase "get together" or "meet up" or "network." Thise words are good- but CONNECT has a power within the word.

Electricity us usable when you connect to it. Same thing as a battery in a car which powers the car. And idea is only powerful when you CONNECT to it. The Power is in the Connection-when 2 things come together. It is the same in new relationships- it is all about CONNECTION.

4) "Tribes.'

This is an interesting word. Seth Godin has a cool book called "Tribes." I suggest that you read it. But as far as a word for the social media arena, it is a word that helps define that you are within the culture and understand the community aspects of what social media is about.

In tribes around the world, it is all about community and belonging to that community. It is the same in social media. Recently I described the community we are building within a project as an "empowered tribe" and some people got it- and well'others did not.

Make sure if they do not understand the concept of tribes, then you explain it.

5) "Transparent."

In social media, being REAL is critical. And part of being REAL is being open and transparent. I love it when I read statements like "full disclosure" and people are disclosing that they have an interest or are on some board of a company they are talking about. THAT is so rocking hot. It shows that they are being transparent and nothing to hide and telling the truth.

And that is what social media is about in many respects- TRUTH about you- and what you are and do. THAT is transparency. Use that word when talking about the truth. Just being "transparent" - that says a lot in one word about you.

6) "Strategy."

Social media without a strategy for it, is like building a house without a blueprint. You need to develop, plan, start, and execute a strategy for your social media success. We call it a "Social Media Path." What PATH do you plan on developing for your business, and how will that fit into your current model of business? What will be your Primary social media Platform, and what will be your secondary platforms?

PATH stands for "Purpose- Actions-Tracking-How." what is your PURPOSE for integrating social media into your business? Marketing? Prospecting? Client communication? Customer service? What ACTIONS will it take? Videos? Blogs? Podcasts? Social Networking? What TRACKING system will you use to keep the platforms at maximum pace? And HOW are you going to Execute the Actions? Through employees? Through outsourcing? Through a combination?

Strategy is a word that you just talk about. You need one. And so do others that you know as well.

7) "Branding."

This word has been around for a while. But you still need it in your focus and communication. Branding is a word that you need to utilize not only in your messages, but your focus as well.

YOU are the Brand is a popular way to discuss social media marketplace image making. But that is not totally true. The PERCEPTION of you is the brand you are building- good or not so good. So make sure that if you use this word in social media this year, you realize that PERCEPTION Rules in Branding.

Brand yourself in the marketplace. But make sure that you focus on the VIEW and FEELINGS people have of you and experience when they think of you—and what you do- and not just some catchy slogan or icon.

8 "Trust."

You need to be an Agent of Trust. Chris Brogan has a book coming out called "Trust Agents." Should be a rocking hot book. What about you? Are you an Agent of Trust? Just like a Real Estate Agent markets real estate, you market Trust in all you do. That is the real estate of the heart.

I like to get that word out there quickly-as i believe that people i do not know, that is on their mind. "Can I trust this guy?" And I usually message something like, "Our company helps build leaders and businesses through concepts and ideas that people can trust and feel good about."

THAT is using the word Trust- to build trust.

9) "Family."

Some people use "network." Some use "team." Some use the word "community." Some use the word "friends." I like the word "Family." it is personal, powerful, and paints a picture of what social media really is building- a family that can help, be there for each other, educate, equip, and empower for greater good.

One thing that I do- and again- just an idea'I welcome everyone on facebook or twitter or youtube or any other social connection with "Welcome to the family!" This says so much more than "thanks for following me" or "appreciate the connection." We ARE family- and I hope and pray it stays that way.

10) "Value."

It ia ALL about Value. It is all about the VALUE that YOU bring to the table. It is all about the VALUE of your conversations and contributions.

And it is ALL about the VALUE that you help others see within themselves. Edify. Encourage. Empower. And become a "Carrier of Value" to everyone you meet in social media and GIVE some Value to them.

11) "GIVE."

This is the MOST important word. GIVE. Why? In social media, it is not the same ol business methodology. It is Biblical- if you will. "Give first- and what you give- you reap." Giving is the culture of social Media. Why do you think that people give so much rocking hot info on their blogs?

Giving is a Power. It is something that not only is part of the evolving culture of social media, but also the CATALYST of much of what social media has already become. if you are a marketer, New Marketing can be almost threatening to you as it flys in the face of traditional marketing- or does it?

No- not really. It is simply marketing that puts PEOPLE FIRST- not profits. It put RELATIONSHIPS FIRST- not results. And it puts GIVING FIRST- not grabbing for their checkbook.

These are the 11 Critical words that I believe should be included in 2009 in your :

1) Social Media Philosophy.

2) Social Media Conversations.

3) Social Media Marketing Actions.

4) Social Media Core.

If you do, your Success should be rapid in social media marketing.

Three affiliate tactics - part three

Get the kind of traffic that is targeted to your product. Just think, if the person who visited your website has no interest whatsoever in what you are offering, they will be among those who move on and never come back. Write articles for publication in e-zines and e-reports. This way you can locate publications that is focusing on your target customers and what you have put up might just grab their interest.

Try to write a minimum of 2 articles per week, with at least 300-600 words in length. By continuously writing and maintaining these articles you can generate as many as 100 targeted readers to your site in a day.
Always remember that only 1 out of 100 people are likely to buy your product or get your services. If you can generate as much as 1,000 targeted hits for your website in a day, that means you can made 10 sales based on the average statistic.

The tactics given above does not really sound very difficult to do, if you think about it. It just requires a little time and an action plan on your part.

Try to use these tips for several affiliate marketing programs. You can end maintaining a good source of income and surviving in this business that not all marketers can do.

Three affiliate tactics - part two

Offer free reports to your readers. If possible position them at the very top side of your page so it they simply cannot be missed. Try to create autoresponder messages that will be mailed to those who input their personal information into your sign up box. According to research, a sale is closed usually on the seventh contact with a prospect.

Only two things can possibly happen with the web page alone: closed sale or the prospect leaving the page and never return again. By placing useful information into their inboxes at certain specified period, you will remind them of the product they thought they want later and will find out that the sale is closed. Be sure that the content is directed toward specific reasons to buy the product. Do not make it sound like a sales pitch.

Focus on important points like how your product can make life and things easier and more enjoyable. Include compelling subject lines in the email. As much as possible, avoid using the word “free” because there are still older spam filters that dumps those kind of contents into the junk before even anyone reading them first. Convince those who signed up for your free reports that they will be missing something big if they do not avail of your products and services.

buying bullion online

With all of the potential for scams, buying bullion online would almost seem unthinkable to many of us. But if you choose carefully you can actually buy gold and silver online, without worrying. Just make sure you are careful.

First, consider your reasons for wanting to buy online rather than face to face. Maybe you live a long way away from the larger dealers so it makes sense for you to work this way. The most common reason for buying online is that you can save money due to much lower overhead costs at online trading houses. Make sure this is reflected in the price you pay, and check all the charges for carriage and storage. Then you can start buying in confidence.

What are these three tactics?

Part One

Using unique web pages to promote each separate product you are marketing. Do not lump all of it together just to save some money on web hosting. It is best to have a site focusing on each and every product and nothing more.

Always include product reviews on the website so visitors will have an initial understanding on what the product can do to those who buys them. Also include testimonials from users who have already tried the product. Be sure that these customers are more than willing to allow you to use their names and photos on the site of the specific product you are marketing.

You can also write articles highlighting the uses of the product and include them on the website as an additional page. Make the pages attractive compelling and include calls to act on the information. Each headline should attract the readers to try and read more, even contact you. Highlight your special points. This will help your readers to learn what the page is about and will want to find out more.

Find out what you can offer

Matching Your Qualifications With Their Needs

The number of resumes received by employers continues to be overwhelming as the job market begins to pick up this year. The challenge for you, as a job seeker, is to get your cover letter/resume noticed - to stand out from the crowd. More and more candidates are using a cover letter/resume that demonstrates the "match" between the employer's requirements (Your Needs) and the skills and experience that they have to offer (My Qualifications).

An example of this type of cover letter/resume is shown below. For some candidates this can be a very effective tool.

Your Needs - Marketing Experience

My Qualifications:

*5 plus years as a marketing consultant.

*Significant consumer-oriented technology marketing in the retail industry.

Your Needs - Product Management experience

My Qualifications:

*Led product marketing efforts for an online store.

*Spearheaded product management efforts for major retail chain as a product manager.

Your Needs - Analytical abilities

My Qualifications:

*Excellent qualitative and quantitative marketing analysis with high impact results.

Your Needs - Interpersonal Skills

My Qualifications:

Leadership qualities with the ability to lead projects and teams to highly successful outcomes.

Ability to communicate through presentations to all levels of management. Strong ability to influence others.

The more technically able you are the more creative you can be with boxes and grids.

Even if you decide not to use this type of document, this exercise will help you familiarize yourself with how close a match you are for the position you are applying for. A few steps will make it an easy task that can serve you well in the long run.

Begin by reading the ads/postings carefully. Notice that there are some of the same words included in every ad for your type of job. An example would be ads for an Executive Secretary where the word "confidentiality" appears consistently. If you were applying for that particular position you would want to include the word "confidential" in your resume and cover letter and show how you have used that skill in past jobs. These words are called the "key factors" or the "key competencies" required to do the job. (Your Needs) By reading job postings carefully and looking for the words that are repeated or stand out as being the most important factors to perform the job you will become familiar with the company or industry jargon used and what skills are being sought for the type of jobs you are seeking.

Practice identifying key factors in job postings or ads that are of interest to you. Go through postings or ads and use a highlighter to mark words as you read. What are the common words used in almost every description? What they are looking for? What are the qualifications listed? How do your skills match up against their requirements? Make a list of the key words and requirements to use in your cover letter/resume.

Next, make a template for your new cover letter/resume. On one side of the template type in "Your Needs." On the other side type "My Qualifications." Use this template to write an individual document for each job you apply for matching what they are looking for against what you have to offer. Be sure that your resume is as close a match as possible to the posting/ad that you are responding to.

As is the case with any cover letter or resume style it will depend on your resume reader as to how effective this style will be. Some resume readers like it because it "cuts to the chase." Others don't like it because it is too simplistic. If you are not experiencing the results that you were hoping for and need a new angle to get "your foot in the door" this may be the ticket for you. Who knows you just might get a surprise with a quick response? Anything is worth trying in this very competitive market.

What firms want

Companies Want Results from Employees

Jane and Bob have a problem. They want extraordinary results from their employees, but they also want to be seen as kind, caring managers. Sometimes they might actually ignore or water down negatives in performance discussions under the banner of concern and caring.

The problem with this Pollyanna-ish thinking is that it creates the exact situation you are attempting to avoid. When people become more important than results, it opens the door to excuse making. How do Jane and Bob find the right balance between excuses and people, and still get results?

We must be clear about employees' behavior, performance, and what we want changed.

For example, Jane and Bob had one of their team members, Marcus, consistently sending e-mail after e-mail on the same subject. People in the department were confused, frustrated at new e-mail after new e-mail, and overwhelmed with all the information.

It's not enough to say, "Marcus, don't send so many e-mails. It's confusing to others." Jane and Bob need to be much more specific: "Marcus, when you send so many e-mails, one after the other, people are confused and, frankly, don't read them. Instead of sending 20 e-mails a day, I want you to collect your thoughts about the subject and write one e-mail. This e-mail should be succinct with the points clearly stated. In addition, let the recipients know if this is for information or if it needs action, and if so, by when."

Thinking that they would hurt Marcus's feelings or make him think he's doing a poor job only continues to produce the same results. Asking Marcus to simply send fewer e-mails may mean to him to send one less a day. Or he may think the confusion is limited to certain people or the number of e-mails. Be clear, be specific, and be honest.

What could happen?

If Jane and Bob are not clear, specific, and honest, Marcus is likely to not produce the desired results, and this opens him up to excuse-making (with cause – he didn't know what Jane and Bob wanted).

Fast-forward two weeks. Marcus continues to send many e-mails on the same subject. He's also talked to people he thinks might have complained and told them to get over it and not be so dumb. By taking action, he thinks he's doing a great job. If Jane and Bob challenge him on it, he says he was doing what he thought they meant.

Now Jane and Bob have a bigger problem on their hands. Marcus is offended because he believed he was doing what they wanted. The problem has not been solved, and, in fact, it's escalated, and Jane and Bob are personally frustrated. All because they watered down what they wanted in Marcus's performance.

Let's try again...

Another example is of an employee who does a great job technically. However, she is often late for work and her attitude is annoying others. Instead of telling her that she needs to quit being late and put on a happy face, be clear, honest, and specific.

"Jennifer, the quality of your work is first-rate. You deliver what is expected and on time, and it is of the highest quality. However, in the last three months, you have been late for work ten times. This is not acceptable. If you are late once more, I am going to have to write it up, and if you are late three more times, you will be asked to leave. Is there any reason you can't be here on time regularly? Also, folks are complaining about your attitude. You aren't acting as part of the team, but more of a lone ranger. When people ask you questions, you need to be gracious in helping them. If others are behind in their work and you aren't, you need to chip in and help them. Now, Jennifer, tell me what you think I mean by attitude adjustment."

It's honest, clear, and specific. While Jennifer might not enjoy hearing that her tardiness and attitude are unacceptable, she's been given a specific framework in which to act. Now she knows what to expect and can perform accordingly.

Final thoughts from Jane and Bob

Watered-down discussions under the guise of caring only get you more of the same performance. You show caring by being honest, specific, and clear. Then, people have the opportunity to succeed and give you what you want.

New investment

This could be a very good time for changing your business investment strategy if you are not already investing in silver or gold bullion. Demand for silver across the world is now running ahead of supply: the mines simply cannot keep pace so it is clear that a scarce commodity will have advantages in the marketplace. This is not a new situation as silver has been growing steadily in popularity for more than fifteen years in a row. There is no massive stockpile of the metal, so its spot price continues to rise on the markets. For the investor, gold and silver are available in the form of coins or ingots. A gold coin is also an inspired gift with a future! This is a great way to hedge against inflation and currency fluctuations.

Volunteer Your Way to Medical Transcription Job Opportunities

As soon as you are ready to find medical transcription job opportunities, volunteer your time, effort and resources to establish your professionalism. Seek out and join a local chapter of the American Association of Medical Transcriptionists (AAMT) in your area, and ask how you may be of help to your local chapter. Volunteers are always needed and will be welcomed with open arms. This is a terrific way to brand yourself as a person who is serious about the medical transcription career. Veteran medical transcriptionists will take notice of you, and that will open the doors to medical transcription job opportunities in the future.

When seeking medical transcription job opportunities, market yourself to local medical transcription agencies. Set up an appointment or interview, if possible. Expand your network by talking to everyone you can in the medical transcription field and let them know that you are willing to do whatever it takes, including volunteer work, to get your foot in the door. Do not forget to thank those who have helped you along the way.

Medical transcription job opportunities are everywhere; use some unique strategies to find them. Look for a local situation that may be of benefit to you. For example, in the 1990s, the County of Orange in California declared bankruptcy. I contacted the Sheriff-Coroner's Office only to discover that all but one full-time medical transcriptionist had been laid off and there was a nine month backlog of autopsy reports. Nine months! After interviewing there and receiving a great reception, I worked there every Saturday for almost a year and received a wonderful education in Pathology terminology. This was the best experience I ever had. Plus, the sole medical transcriptionist was nearing retirement which put me in a great position if I were offered the job.

In your search for medical transcription job opportunities, ask your instructors if they need some help with transcribing classroom assignments. When I was an MT student, I remember how bad the assignment copies were. After I completed the medical transcription course, I word processed the assignments, corrected the mistakes that had been in them, and then took them to a print shop for reprinting and binding. Then I sent these to my medical transcription instructor. It was a way to thank her for all she had done for me. I also helped my medical terminology instructor, who was writing a book. I word processed the medical reports for her medical terminology book. I was working full time as a medical transcription and word processor, but I made the time to pay back these wonderful professionals who gave me a great education.

Volunteering is a networking strategy used to find unadvertised medical transcription job opportunities. Not many people employ this technique. Although you may not get immediate results from your efforts, people will see you as a serious medical transcriptionist and admire your professional tenacity in your job search. The word will get out that you are looking for a MT job, and soon you will find what you are looking for: medical transcription job opportunities.

Mary Ruff-King is a veteran MT who helps new MTs with tips on how to find medical transcription job opportunities. Other tips on how to find medical transcription job opportunities are provided at MT Mastery Center.

Route to success

Shine by Dressing for Success

Dress for Success. Is that irrelevant in today's business world? How much importance do we place on "dressing up"' for work? Well I think in some instances - not enough.

What message does your image send? Do you feel confident in the way you present visually through what you wear? It seems that there is still a lot of confusion in the work place about how we should dress. I read a posting recently on small business website Flying Solo which detailed one guy's dilemma about what to wear to a client interview and possible photo shoot. To wear a tie or not to? Well the reaction from the comments posted were varied, from "I wear a funny bowtie to break the ice"' to "my best suit"' to "who cares?"'

How well do you understand the image you put across? Image is created by a lot of different ingredients acting together. Physical appearance, dress, voice, manner, the views you express or the fact you don't express any and the way you react to the people around you. These impressions are made instantly. Images are so powerful because however little you may like it they do say something true about your personality. It's no accident that you dress, talk and behave the way you do.

So what is your visual appearance like? Do you grab the first thing you see in the morning or put some thought into what is the most appropriate outfit for that day? Having an extensive wardrobe of all the latest fashions isn't really necessary. Establishing your own image and a strong sense of individual personality and style is the key. You may only need a few quality, signature pieces that reflect your individual style and that you can mix and match. You don't have to look different every day, you just need to look good and look professional.

Let's look at the scenario of work from home.

Get up and get dressed! Ditch the pj's and trackie daks. Put on something smart and comfortable. I've often read that it helps to have a separate work place in your home, a dedicated office phone line. Well it's the same with your personal brand. To be making calls, sending emails and acting in a professional way to run your business, means dressing in a professional way too. Now I don't mean you need a shirt and tie or a corporate outfit but choose clothes that make you feel like you're working. You must look smart not only in the eyes of the people you're around but your own as well.

Going out to meet a client? Dress appropriately for the occasion. Do your research. You wouldn't go to a client meeting without knowing something about the company. Find out how the boss dresses, that's a start, or the code of dress in that organisation and take it up a notch. After all you're there to win the client's business and that won't happen if you dress inappropriately or look like a slob.

Think about what they're looking for. If you're in finance, law or other professional services they want you to look like a credible, successful business person. You might be in IT or a creative service. Your potential client wouldn't expect to see you in a 3 piece suit. However does that mean you need to wear jeans and scruffy sneakers? Think about it, plan it out. You are part of the package that you're presenting to the client. People shouldn't judge us by our outward appearances, but of course they do.

I know a number of professional speakers, it's the industry I'm in. Let me share an example of two men, both $10,000 speakers. One works mostly with creatives yet has invested time and money into developing his image, finding the right cut to suit his body shape, wearing flattering colours, and choosing smart casual outfits. He looks like a $10,000 speaker. Another with a great reputation for the work he does with leading entrepreneurs still chooses to wear the tried (or maybe tired) and trusted jeans and black jacket. Mmmmm.

This scenario should be considered also by those that work in a slightly more casual workplace environment or have to endure casual work days. Jeans just don't cut it. They are what you wear when you are out and about at weekends or going out with friends at night.

Your appearance does label you; therefore it is crucial to get the right label! If your appearance shows that you care, people will recognise this. If you look like a slob, they begin to question your professionalism. It's not trivial to concentrate on your outward appearance. When you carefully select your wardrobe and create your look and personal style, you propel yourself forward by having a unique self brand.

Let's take a look at the corporate workplace.

Each workplace usually sets its own standards. However in the corporate environment there is an underlying code of dressing which is smart and professional. Suits have been the most acceptable form of dress in most industries with a trend today toward more casual wear particularly in IT and advertising and similar industries. Men have it easier than women in the matter of image. They at least have an example to follow. If everyone in the office wears suits there's no question they will do the same.

I think if you have one good working outfit for every day of the week that is all you really need. The idea is to mix and match and choose good, quality pieces. You can update with shirts, ties and accessories. What your clients or bosses want is someone who looks speaks and acts like they think someone in that position should speak or act. I think a woman or man who dresses smartly, elegantly and looks neat has a clear image of his or herself and what they are presenting to the outside world.

What do you think?

Publishing for money

The Top Seven Reasons Publishers Reject Nonfiction Book Proposals
Copyright © 2007 Gail Richards

Publishers are deluged with manuscripts and book proposals, and must review thousands each year in hopes of finding the few that will become high-quality, best selling books. What authors don't know is that publishers reject most of these after spending less than one minute reviewing them.

Many book proposals are sent to publishers that aren't ever going to be in the market for that type of book. Many others are sent without checking to see what the publisher is looking for, so the book proposal isn't developed fully enough to convince the publisher that a good book could be written by this author.

A book proposal is like a business plan for your book. If you don't convince the publisher that this is a popular enough subject to sell substantial number of books, and that you are the best author for the project due to your background and experience, and that you will be able to help sell the book effectively, then your project has little chance of being accepted.

Publishers and acquisitions editors weigh in to explain why some book proposals and manuscripts simply do not make it into serious consideration. Avoid these and your manuscript has a real chance of acceptance.

1. Proposal is weak – The proposal doesn't make a strong case for why this topic and this author are likely to make a profitable book.

2. Nothing new – The approach to this topic doesn't differentiate itself enough to rise above the other books already available.

3. Author/audience connection not made – Author's platform is not developed enough to show the author would be a viable salesperson – the database is too small or there is no direct reach such as a speaking schedule or a well-read blog or newsletter.

4. Writing not polished or compelling – The sample chapters weren't ready for prime time – extensive use of passive voice, excessive use of exclamation points or all caps, no statistics, stories or examples.

5. Not right for the publisher – Either this is not a market the publisher is currently in or the editor/publisher isn't convinced that he or she wants to jump into this market with this book.

6. Author wrote a journal – The book was written for and about the author, not an identified audience. Personal life stories, in general, are not commercially viable unless you are a famous person or have done or lived through something extraordinary or of significance (made it to the top of Mt. Everest, survived a shipwreck, not just making it through a rough childhood).
