It must be terrible to have difficulty with reading - if your child is having any trouble with words, it is a good idea to contact the people at Score Learning. They have a panel of excellent Reading Tutors who are willing to help at a moment's notice, and support your child positively. They can take a lot more time than the class teacher, and advise you on all the learning needs including Maths. Never take chances with education!
