He was confident that thousands of other investors must feel like him: frustrated with the way online investment research was done; and what he had to work with. He decided to conduct even more research to see if the market needed and would be willing to pay for a unique membership web site that would take the data - the material that drives most of us bananas - and properly organize it in a way that he and those other investors had never seen before.

History of the Forex Market

Money, in one form or another, has been used by man for centuries. At first it was mainly gold or silver coins. Goods were traded versus other goods or against gold. So, the price of gold got a reference point. But as the trading of goods grew among nations, moving quantities of gold around places to settle payments of trade became cumbersome, risky and time consuming. Therefore, a system was sought by which the payment of trades could be resolved in the seller's local currency. But how much of buyer's local currency should be equal to the seller's local currency?

The answer was simple. The strength of a country's currency depended on the amount of gold reserves the country preserved. So, if country A's gold reserves are double the gold reserves of country B, country A's currency will be twice in value when exchanged with the currency of country B. During the first World War, in order to meet the tremendous financing needs, paper money was created in quantities that far exceeded the gold reserves.

After the cease of World War II the western allied powers tried to resolve the problem at the Bretton Woods Conference in New Hampshire in 1944. In the first three weeks of July 1944, delegates from 45 nations gathered at the United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. The delegates gathered to discuss the postwar recovery of Europe as well as a number of monetary issues, such as unstable exchange rates and protectionist trade policies. In the early 1940s, the United States and Great Britain developed proposals for the creation of new international financial institutions that would stabilize exchange rates and promote international trade.

The delegates at Bretton Woods arrived at an agreement known as the Bretton Woods Agreement to establish a postwar international monetary system of convertible currencies, fixed exchange rates and free trade. To help these objectives, the agreement created two international institutions: the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the World Bank). The aim was to render economic aid for reconstruction of postwar Europe. An initial loan of $250 million to France in 1947 was the World Bank's first act.

Under the Bretton Woods Exchange System, the currencies of active nations could be changed into the US dollar at a fixed rate, and foreign central banks could change the US dollar into gold at a fixed rate. It was similar to forex trading.

7. Get Back to Basics

Social Media Marketing- 11 of the Most Critical Words to use in Social Media in 2009

Conversation.

Yep- that is what the core focus is in Social Media.

Ok- let's get REAL. If Social Media marketing is about conversation, then should there not be words that fit in to what the culture of social media is all about? Should not you paint a picture with your words? Should your words not elicit feelings and emotions?

Of course they should.

Words are a marketer's tool box. Here are 11 you need

1) "YOU."

There is nothing more powerful to a person reading a message or conversation that has the word YOU in it, over and over. Many people have an "I" mentality, and in social media, you are not the deal. The other person or side of the conversation is.

There are 2 forms of conversation in social media::

a) "Contribution" and b) "Distribution."

" Contribution conversations" contribute to the whole, and add Value to the conversation. "Distribution conversation" distributes the message/agenda you want- and has little inclusion of someone else. Contribution words use YOU many times. Distribution words use "I" or 'Me" many times. Use the word YOU and become a Contribution Agent in social media, not a distribution rookie.

2) "A Person's Name."

Duh. There is nothing more beautiful to a person than their name. This is a given. I am surprised how many tweets, notes, and messages i get and also read that do not say the person's name. Use their name at least once in every communication and message as it adds to the conversation.

And also, a person will retain almost 70% more of what a message says, if their name is within the first 3 words. Chris Brogan is a master at this. I have seen and studied him, and every time he tweets or sends a message- ususally the name is the first word.

Smart. VERY smart. we all should follow that lead.

3) "Connection."

This word is an indication that you want to connect and start a relationship of some kind and create an ongoing conversation. Many folks use the phrase "get together" or "meet up" or "network." Thise words are good- but CONNECT has a power within the word.

Electricity us usable when you connect to it. Same thing as a battery in a car which powers the car. And idea is only powerful when you CONNECT to it. The Power is in the Connection-when 2 things come together. It is the same in new relationships- it is all about CONNECTION.

4) "Tribes.'

This is an interesting word. Seth Godin has a cool book called "Tribes." I suggest that you read it. But as far as a word for the social media arena, it is a word that helps define that you are within the culture and understand the community aspects of what social media is about.

In tribes around the world, it is all about community and belonging to that community. It is the same in social media. Recently I described the community we are building within a project as an "empowered tribe" and some people got it- and well'others did not.

Make sure if they do not understand the concept of tribes, then you explain it.

5) "Transparent."

In social media, being REAL is critical. And part of being REAL is being open and transparent. I love it when I read statements like "full disclosure" and people are disclosing that they have an interest or are on some board of a company they are talking about. THAT is so rocking hot. It shows that they are being transparent and nothing to hide and telling the truth.

And that is what social media is about in many respects- TRUTH about you- and what you are and do. THAT is transparency. Use that word when talking about the truth. Just being "transparent" - that says a lot in one word about you.

6) "Strategy."

Social media without a strategy for it, is like building a house without a blueprint. You need to develop, plan, start, and execute a strategy for your social media success. We call it a "Social Media Path." What PATH do you plan on developing for your business, and how will that fit into your current model of business? What will be your Primary social media Platform, and what will be your secondary platforms?

PATH stands for "Purpose- Actions-Tracking-How." what is your PURPOSE for integrating social media into your business? Marketing? Prospecting? Client communication? Customer service? What ACTIONS will it take? Videos? Blogs? Podcasts? Social Networking? What TRACKING system will you use to keep the platforms at maximum pace? And HOW are you going to Execute the Actions? Through employees? Through outsourcing? Through a combination?

Strategy is a word that you just talk about. You need one. And so do others that you know as well.

7) "Branding."

This word has been around for a while. But you still need it in your focus and communication. Branding is a word that you need to utilize not only in your messages, but your focus as well.

YOU are the Brand is a popular way to discuss social media marketplace image making. But that is not totally true. The PERCEPTION of you is the brand you are building- good or not so good. So make sure that if you use this word in social media this year, you realize that PERCEPTION Rules in Branding.

Brand yourself in the marketplace. But make sure that you focus on the VIEW and FEELINGS people have of you and experience when they think of you—and what you do- and not just some catchy slogan or icon.

8 "Trust."

You need to be an Agent of Trust. Chris Brogan has a book coming out called "Trust Agents." Should be a rocking hot book. What about you? Are you an Agent of Trust? Just like a Real Estate Agent markets real estate, you market Trust in all you do. That is the real estate of the heart.

I like to get that word out there quickly-as i believe that people i do not know, that is on their mind. "Can I trust this guy?" And I usually message something like, "Our company helps build leaders and businesses through concepts and ideas that people can trust and feel good about."

THAT is using the word Trust- to build trust.

9) "Family."

Some people use "network." Some use "team." Some use the word "community." Some use the word "friends." I like the word "Family." it is personal, powerful, and paints a picture of what social media really is building- a family that can help, be there for each other, educate, equip, and empower for greater good.

One thing that I do- and again- just an idea'I welcome everyone on facebook or twitter or youtube or any other social connection with "Welcome to the family!" This says so much more than "thanks for following me" or "appreciate the connection." We ARE family- and I hope and pray it stays that way.

10) "Value."

It ia ALL about Value. It is all about the VALUE that YOU bring to the table. It is all about the VALUE of your conversations and contributions.

And it is ALL about the VALUE that you help others see within themselves. Edify. Encourage. Empower. And become a "Carrier of Value" to everyone you meet in social media and GIVE some Value to them.

11) "GIVE."

This is the MOST important word. GIVE. Why? In social media, it is not the same ol business methodology. It is Biblical- if you will. "Give first- and what you give- you reap." Giving is the culture of social Media. Why do you think that people give so much rocking hot info on their blogs?

Giving is a Power. It is something that not only is part of the evolving culture of social media, but also the CATALYST of much of what social media has already become. if you are a marketer, New Marketing can be almost threatening to you as it flys in the face of traditional marketing- or does it?

No- not really. It is simply marketing that puts PEOPLE FIRST- not profits. It put RELATIONSHIPS FIRST- not results. And it puts GIVING FIRST- not grabbing for their checkbook.

Even if you decide not to use this type of document, this exercise will help you familiarize yourself with how close a match you are for the position you are applying for. A few steps will make it an easy task that can serve you well in the long run.

Begin by reading the ads/postings carefully. Notice that there are some of the same words included in every ad for your type of job. An example would be ads for an Executive Secretary where the word "confidentiality" appears consistently. If you were applying for that particular position you would want to include the word "confidential" in your resume and cover letter and show how you have used that skill in past jobs. These words are called the "key factors" or the "key competencies" required to do the job. (Your Needs) By reading job postings carefully and looking for the words that are repeated or stand out as being the most important factors to perform the job you will become familiar with the company or industry jargon used and what skills are being sought for the type of jobs you are seeking.

Practice identifying key factors in job postings or ads that are of interest to you. Go through postings or ads and use a highlighter to mark words as you read. Make a list of the key words and requirements to use in your cover letter/resume.

Be sure that your resume is as close a match as possible to the posting/ad that you are responding to.

As is the case with any cover letter or resume style it will depend on your resume reader as to how effective this style will be. Some resume readers like it because it "cuts to the chase." Companies Want Results from Employees

Jane and Bob have a problem. They want extraordinary results from their employees, but they also want to be seen as kind, caring managers. Sometimes they might actually ignore or water down negatives in performance discussions under the banner of concern and caring.

The problem with this Pollyanna-ish thinking is that it creates the exact situation you are attempting to avoid. When people become more important than results, it opens the door to excuse making. How do Jane and Bob find the right balance between excuses and people, and still get results?

We must be clear about employees' behavior, performance, and what we want changed.

For example, Jane and Bob had one of their team members, Marcus, consistently sending e-mail after e-mail on the same subject. People in the department were confused, frustrated at new e-mail after new e-mail, and overwhelmed with all the information.

It's not enough to say, "Marcus, don't send so many e-mails. It's confusing to others." Jane and Bob need to be much more specific: "Marcus, when you send so many e-mails, one after the other, people are confused and, frankly, don't read them. Instead of sending 20 e-mails a day, I want you to collect your thoughts about the subject and write one e-mail. This e-mail should be succinct with the points clearly stated. In addition, let the recipients know if this is for information or if it needs action, and if so, by when."

Thinking that they would hurt Marcus's feelings or make him think he's doing a poor job only continues to produce the same results. Asking Marcus to simply send fewer e-mails may mean to him to send one less a day. Or he may think the confusion is limited to certain people or the number of e-mails. Be clear, be specific, and be honest.

What could happen?

If Jane and Bob are not clear, specific, and honest, Marcus is likely to not produce the desired results, and this opens him up to excuse-making (with cause – he didn't know what Jane and Bob wanted).

Fast-forward two weeks. Marcus continues to send many e-mails on the same subject. He's also talked to people he thinks might have complained and told them to get over it and not be so dumb. By taking action, he thinks he's doing a great job. If Jane and Bob challenge him on it, he says he was doing what he thought they meant.

Now Jane and Bob have a bigger problem on their hands. Marcus is offended because he believed he was doing what they wanted. The problem has not been solved, and, in fact, it's escalated, and Jane and Bob are personally frustrated. All because they watered down what they wanted in Marcus's performance.

Let's try again...

Another example is of an employee who does a great job technically. However, she is often late for work and her attitude is annoying others. Instead of telling her that she needs to quit being late and put on a happy face, be clear, honest, and specific.

"Jennifer, the quality of your work is first-rate. You deliver what is expected and on time, and it is of the highest quality. However, in the last three months, you have been late for work ten times. This is not acceptable. If you are late once more, I am going to have to write it up, and if you are late three more times, you will be asked to leave. Is there any reason you can't be here on time regularly? Also, folks are complaining about your attitude. You aren't acting as part of the team, but more of a lone ranger. When people ask you questions, you need to be gracious in helping them. If others are behind in their work and you aren't, you need to chip in and help them. Now, Jennifer, tell me what you think I mean by attitude adjustment."

It's honest, clear, and specific. While Jennifer might not enjoy hearing that her tardiness and attitude are unacceptable, she's been given a specific framework in which to act. Now she knows what to expect and can perform accordingly.

Final thoughts from Jane and Bob

Watered-down discussions under the guise of caring only get you more of the same performance. You show caring by being honest, specific, and clear. Then, people have the opportunity to succeed and give you what you want.

I word processed the medical reports for her medical terminology book. I was working full time as a medical transcription and word processor, but I made the time to pay back these wonderful professionals who gave me a great education.

Dress for Success. Is that irrelevant in today's business world? How much importance do we place on "dressing up"' for work? Well I think in some instances - not enough.

What message does your image send? Do you feel confident in the way you present visually through what you wear? It seems that there is still a lot of confusion in the work place about how we should dress. I read a posting recently on small business website Flying Solo which detailed one guy's dilemma about what to wear to a client interview and possible photo shoot. To wear a tie or not to? Well the reaction from the comments posted were varied, from "I wear a funny bowtie to break the ice"' to "my best suit"' to "who cares?"'

How well do you understand the image you put across? Image is created by a lot of different ingredients acting together. Physical appearance, dress, voice, manner, the views you express or the fact you don't express any and the way you react to the people around you. These impressions are made instantly. Images are so powerful because however little you may like it they do say something true about your personality. It's no accident that you dress, talk and behave the way you do.

So what is your visual appearance like? Do you grab the first thing you see in the morning or put some thought into what is the most appropriate outfit for that day? Having an extensive wardrobe of all the latest fashions isn't really necessary. Establishing your own image and a strong sense of individual personality and style is the key. You may only need a few quality, signature pieces that reflect your individual style and that you can mix and match. You don't have to look different every day, you just need to look good and look professional.

Let's look at the scenario of work from home.

Get up and get dressed! Ditch the pj's and trackie daks. Put on something smart and comfortable. I've often read that it helps to have a separate work place in your home, a dedicated office phone line. Well it's the same with your personal brand. To be making calls, sending emails and acting in a professional way to run your business, means dressing in a professional way too. Now I don't mean you need a shirt and tie or a corporate outfit but choose clothes that make you feel like you're working. You must look smart not only in the eyes of the people you're around but your own as well.

Going out to meet a client? Dress appropriately for the occasion. Do your research. You wouldn't go to a client meeting without knowing something about the company. Find out how the boss dresses, that's a start, or the code of dress in that organisation and take it up a notch. After all you're there to win the client's business and that won't happen if you dress inappropriately or look like a slob.

Think about what they're looking for. If you're in finance, law or other professional services they want you to look like a credible, successful business person. You might be in IT or a creative service. Your potential client wouldn't expect to see you in a 3 piece suit. However does that mean you need to wear jeans and scruffy sneakers? Think about it, plan it out. You are part of the package that you're presenting to the client. People shouldn't judge us by our outward appearances, but of course they do.

I know a number of professional speakers, it's the industry I'm in. Let me share an example of two men, both $10,000 speakers. One works mostly with creatives yet has invested time and money into developing his image, finding the right cut to suit his body shape, wearing flattering colours, and choosing smart casual outfits. He looks like a $10,000 speaker. Another with a great reputation for the work he does with leading entrepreneurs still chooses to wear the tried (or maybe tired) and trusted jeans and black jacket. Mmmmm.

This scenario should be considered also by those that work in a slightly more casual workplace environment or have to endure casual work days. Jeans just don't cut it. They are what you wear when you are out and about at weekends or going out with friends at night.

Your appearance does label you; therefore it is crucial to get the right label! If your appearance shows that you care, people will recognise this. If you look like a slob, they begin to question your professionalism. It's not trivial to concentrate on your outward appearance. When you carefully select your wardrobe and create your look and personal style, you propel yourself forward by having a unique self brand.

Let's take a look at the corporate workplace.

Each workplace usually sets its own standards. However in the corporate environment there is an underlying code of dressing which is smart and professional. Suits have been the most acceptable form of dress in most industries with a trend today toward more casual wear particularly in IT and advertising and similar industries. Men have it easier than women in the matter of image. They at least have an example to follow. If everyone in the office wears suits there's no question they will do the same.

I think if you have one good working outfit for every day of the week that is all you really need. The idea is to mix and match and choose good, quality pieces. You can update with shirts, ties and accessories. What your clients or bosses want is someone who looks speaks and acts like they think someone in that position should speak or act. I think a woman or man who dresses smartly, elegantly and looks neat has a clear image of his or herself and what they are presenting to the outside world.

The Top Seven Reasons Publishers Reject Nonfiction Book Proposals

Publishers are deluged with manuscripts and book proposals, and must review thousands each year in hopes of finding the few that will become high-quality, best selling books. What authors don't know is that publishers reject most of these after spending less than one minute reviewing them.

Many book proposals are sent to publishers that aren't ever going to be in the market for that type of book. Many others are sent without checking to see what the publisher is looking for, so the book proposal isn't developed fully enough to convince the publisher that a good book could be written by this author.

A book proposal is like a business plan for your book. If you don't convince the publisher that this is a popular enough subject to sell substantial number of books, and that you are the best author for the project due to your background and experience, and that you will be able to help sell the book effectively, then your project has little chance of being accepted.

Publishers and acquisitions editors weigh in to explain why some book proposals and manuscripts simply do not make it into serious consideration. Avoid these and your manuscript has a real chance of acceptance.

1. Proposal is weak – The proposal doesn't make a strong case for why this topic and this author are likely to make a profitable book.

2. Nothing new – The approach to this topic doesn't differentiate itself enough to rise above the other books already available.

3. Author/audience connection not made – Author's platform is not developed enough to show the author would be a viable salesperson – the database is too small or there is no direct reach such as a speaking schedule or a well-read blog or newsletter.

4. Writing not polished or compelling – The sample chapters weren't ready for prime time – extensive use of passive voice, excessive use of exclamation points or all caps, no statistics, stories or examples.

5. Not right for the publisher – Either this is not a market the publisher is currently in or the editor/publisher isn't convinced that he or she wants to jump into this market with this book.

6. Author wrote a journal – The book was written for and about the author, not an identified audience. Personal life stories, in general, are not commercially viable unless you are a famous person or have done or lived through something extraordinary or of significance (made it to the top of Mt. Everest, survived a shipwreck, not just making it through a rough childhood).

7. Unsolicited manuscript – There is no personal connection between the editor/publisher and the author that would make the editor give the proposal more than a quick once over.

Get help with your book proposal. Have a number of people who have been through the process read it and help you make sure it meets all the criteria. Polish it and polish it until you make the best case you can for the publisher to seriously consider making an investment of time and money in you and your book.

These are key requirements, so make sure whatever venue you have in mind can be set up to meet your needs. A conference centre or large hotel probably will be satisfactory; a smaller venue may not. You are also under a duty to ensure that the conference venue is fully accessible to any attendees who may have mobility issues.

Another issue to think about is catering. Some event venues may not be set up to cater for large groups; catering will have to be sourced from elsewhere in these cases. If the venue can cater for your food and entertainment requirements, it is important to agree on these well in advance. This can range from simple tea and biscuits to a full-blown banquet, which will obviously require much more input from you in terms of costs, menu, and other requirements. Attendees have certain expectations as to what level of catering will be provided at your conference or corporate event; if you're not planning to feed and water them lavishly, make sure you've selected a venue with plenty of lunch options nearby.

If you're holding an event that people will be travelling longer distances to attend, you'll need to arrange suitable accommodation. Many conference venues have special arrangements with local hotels, or can recommend nearby accommodation for your delegates. This is one key advantage of using a specialist venue team to arrange your conference; they will usually be able to secure discounted room rates far below the walk-up price you'd be quoted. This in turn allows you to lower costs for delegates and leads to a more productive event. Of course, you could negotiate with local hotels yourself, but it's a time-consuming task, and there's no guarantee you'll get a better rate.

Finally, make sure your selected venue is set up to meet your other needs in terms of welcome desk and registration facilities, breakout rooms for smaller groups, space for relaxation and coffee breaks, and most crucially your IT needs. Most conference venues have good computer and projection facilities, but don't assume this in advance and if you require anything out of the ordinary, such as videoconferencing facilities, it's best to flag this up before committing to any particular venue.

Using a venue team has a number of advantages. Because they are specialists, they'll have lists of suitable event venues ordered by location and type so if you specifically need a Yorkshire venue for your meeting, they'll be able to recommend a whole range of potential locations. They can also source accommodation at the best possible price, negotiate with venues on your behalf, and arrange inspection visits. Since conference venues and hotels pay their fees, it's a cost-effective way of arranging your corporate event and leaving you free to concentrate on the important stuff.

Job seeking now seems to be almost entirely focused on the online world. here in the UK, there are so many job vacancies posted on Gumtree, a website that I have used myself with good results. They have a lot of Edinburgh jobs posted on the site and these are quality, well paid job vacancies with good salaries and terms and conditions of employment.

Jobs in Edinburgh are popular because Edinburgh is one of Britain's top cities to live and work. The place has a really cool vibe and plenty of entertainment as well as being a University town, ensuring that Edinburgh always has a young atmosphere. The city has some great places to live too, so it is no wonder so many job seekers and companies want to locate themselves there. The combination of economic prosperity, housing, nightlife, culture and natural beauty make Edinburgh a great place to be.
